Me thinks Edwards' overstates the case for the chronological order of the NT, a tad, as being the reason we cannot understand our Bibles. T. Austin Sparks makes the case that God's Book was divinely preserved and ordered in the way we have it, as it progressively opens faith as we read through it from Gospels to Revelation---and that may very well be true, and has seemed intuitive to me over the years I have been reading my Bible. However, Edwards does bring out a lot of interesting points, and maps out the order of the NT writings (what's going on politically, economically, socially, etc), including a back cover foldout of the first century, mapping out Paul's writings through the 1st century. I noticed Frank Viola credits Edwards a lot in writing his "The Untold Story" book, which I consider a better read. But I have read chronological Bibles before so this wasn't news to me, and I have always tried to put the epistles in the chronological order as they are found in the book of Acts. So comparitive reading is a must.

Revolutionary Bible Study Gene Edwards 9780979751554 Books Reviews

Great peek into early church history.
Interesting review of the New Testament, seeing the movements of Paul in the order that he traveled& wrote. I am in the process of reading, but like what I'm seeing.
Wow - for those who love the story behind the story this book is a must. The epistles of Paul and the others suddenly make just so much more sense. I do not necessarily agree that the way Paul planted churches then is still the only recipe for now but as far as content and context is concerned, this work is up there with the best.
If you think you know the New Testament- try this and it will set you on a better course. Very inspiring and accurate. I could not put it down.
I have almost read through the book. Anything that Gene Edwards wites or is a part of writing I will read. Great book.
I really am enjoying this book. The power of this book is that it integrates Acts with Paul's letters and with what was going on in the Roman Empire and in Israel, at the time. It's easy-to-read, moving, motivating and profound. It gives insights into strategies to take the gospel to our world.
This is a study I would recommend for EVERY Christian to take the TIME to go thru and study this. It is and was the BEST Bible study I have ever done. It will make Paul's writings come alive and it is done in chronological order. Your N.T. will never be seen the same way again - you will read through entire N.T. books before you can proceed to another chapter. Take your time with this one - it's a life changer.
