David Bouchier is the popular weekly essayist and music host for National Public Radio Stations WSHU & WSUF in New York and Connecticut. Born in London, David Bouchier has been a writer, college teacher, and broadcaster on both sides of the Atlantic. He now lives in Long Island, New York with his wife and two resolutely practical cats.
A Few Well Chosen Words is the third collection of David Bouchier’s entertaining, enlightening, and sometimes exasperated weekly commentaries on his life in America, originally broadcast on public radio stations WSHU and WSUF during Morning Edition.
Every week for the past twelve years Bouchier has plucked a topic from the chaos of everyday life and subjected it to his special brand of ironic scrutiny. Nothing is too small or too vast to attract his attention stuffed bears, NASCAR racing, reincarnation, the federal tax system, and shopping in Florida all find a place in this spirited and very funny collection of observations and opinions.
The hundred and seventy essays in this book show why Bouchier has become the most popular radio personality and lecturer in the region.

For instance, in his introductory essay "All American," he begins his inimitable satire with "everybody in the world, except the French, wants to be American." Preceding this essay is a quote from E. M. Forster: "If one cannot reform the world, one can at least laugh at it." Bouchier knows how to do that, and he knows how to entice the reader to do the same.Review by author
